Love Always Makes Some Noise

Sometimes the clearest sign that love is doing real work is that somebody calls it disruptive. In Acts 24, Paul is dragged into court and accused of being a problem, but the deeper issue is not chaos. It is compassion that crosses lines others wanted to keep in place.

That tension still feels familiar. When we make room for people who have been pushed aside, when we choose mercy over image management, when we care more about healing than appearances, somebody usually calls it “too much.” But Jesus never treated love as a threat. He treated love as the point.
The sermon on Acts 24 invited us to ask a hard and holy question: not who comes through our doors, but who have we been inclined to keep out?
The Spirit keeps shaping us away from fear and toward courage, patience, and welcome which is why one of our four core values says:
"We are dedicated to becoming the best version of ourselves that God calls us to be. We follow after the ministry of Jesus and are called to reform and re-form both ourselves and our community. This process can be uncomfortable but where God calls us, we go and build or rebuild where we need to to further our own journeys and support the journey of those in our community."
That kind of faith may not always feel tidy, but it does look a lot like Jesus.
Reflection Question: Where might God be inviting you to choose love over reputation this week?
