About the event
Maundy Thursday remembers the final night Jesus spent with his disciples, the sharing of the last supper, and the command to love one another as he loved. This Tenebrae service invites us into the deepening shadows of Holy Week through scripture, silence, and gradually extinguished light.
Tenebrae means “Shadows.” This service will bring attention to the shadows leading to Christ’s Passion. It will walk us into the Kidron Valley and remind us of the power of facing our shadows so that we will find ways to change, to repent, to turn around and live into new life the life of co-creating God’s kindom on earth. Come and engage, touch community and lean into the good work of Holy Week.
This service will be hosted by Brookmeade and is open to both congregations and the wider community. It is a contemplative, emotionally grounded experience that prepares our hearts for Good Friday…
